Lunch seminar
The seminar will be an opportunity to discuss EU’s commitment to sustainable development in the framework of trade policy agenda. It will focus on how modern free trade agreements integrate sustainability concerns and what tools they use to assess and address their sustainability implications. The seminar will, further, present the problem of compliance with sustainability provisions of trade agreements and explore various modes of their implementation and enforcement. Finally, it will discuss the issue of competence over trade and sustainability agenda in the light of the Court’s opinion on EU-Singapore free trade agreement (Opinion 2/15).
Karolina Zurek is a senior expert at the National Board of Trade Sweden (Kommerskollegium) and a former post-doctoral researcher at the Law Department of Stockholm University. Karolina Zurek has been doing research and teaching in EU law, trade law and international law in Poland, Sweden and the US. She holds a PhD in law from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
