A company’s fundamental right to conduct business

den 29 maj 2020, kl. 12:00

Eduardo Gill-Pedro will at this webinar present a paper that he is currently working on, entitled "A company’s fundamental right to conduct business: reverse engineering a free market as an objective of EU law?". Please join us via Zoom (link will be sent upon registration).

Eduardo Gill-Pedro analyses the caselaw of the Court of Justice of the EU on the right to conduct business, and the forthcoming paper is intended as a reflection on how EU fundamental rights can work to insulate market actors from political interference and to hinder attempts by states to 'embed' the market in society. While its topic is EU law, it may also be relevant to anyone interested in the relationship between law, the economy and politics, and in the roles of the state, the market and the individual in transnational law.

Eduardo Gill-Pedro is Senior Lecturer and Ragnar Söderberg Research Fellow at the Faculty of Law, Lund University, and is currently conducting a research project on the fundamental rights of companies.

Discussant: Professor Antonina Bakardjieva Engelbrekt, Stockholm University
